The department also processes the licenses and registration for the various contractor types in accordance with the provisions of the codified ordinances.  This includes general contractors as well as the various subcontractors. See FAQ's for specific questions.


The department is a certified department by the State of Ohio Board of Building Standards.  The department is capable of responding to all residential, commercial and industrial project and code matters.  We continue to assure that the inspection staff is fully trained by insuring that all mandatory state classes were attended by all department staff.  Additionally, staff members also attended other voluntary educational training hours for the City to increase their areas of expertise. The department functions as a true "one-stop shop" as all submittals can be made through the office for any aspect of a project.


The Lucas County Engineers have announced the release of FEMA's Preliminary Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM).  This map shows the flood hazard area displayed over an aerial photo, allowing for ease in determining whether your home is in or out of the floodplain.  This is a preliminary map and cannot be used for enforcement, regulation or insurance rating purposes.   If you want to see the current map contact Oregon's Floodplain Administrator, Jim Gilmore.

This includes applications for and coordinating reviews for Special Use, Conditional Use, Rezoning Petitions, Filing for New Subdivisions and Platting.  The department is the primary contact for any issue relating to any zoning code matters.
